A short blog entry on sustainability and me….

By BeefisSexy • Jan 7th, 2009 • Category: Welcome

Recently I have enrolled myself into Minneapolis College of Design’s (or MCAD), Certificate in Sustainable Design. I’ve found myself thrown into a new world - one that uses a new set of vocabulary like best practices, green hats, green collar economy, green washing…and the list goes on. It could be daunting - for designers and clients alike but there is a wealth of information online and there are numerous good books out there for anyone who is keen on preserving the world we live in and adopting a more sustainable way of life.

My sustainability value statement:

1. To value the resources of the planet and encouraging others to do so.
2. To contribute to better communities and the environment.
3. To continue educating myself on sustainability with the hope of educating others in the process.

Recommended readings

- Green collar economy by Van Jones

- SustainAble (a handbook of materials and applications for graphic designers and their clients)

- 7 levels of change by Rolf Smith

I will also be updating my “Friends of Beef” list - so bookmark this page! Here’s a great link!
